LaDonna Lea Storme Waldron, 92, of Herrin, passed away Friday, April 23, 2021, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Rev. Ralph Brandon officiating. Burial will be at Blairsville Cemetery. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.

LaDonna was born August 10, 1928, in Cambria, to Kenneth “Ras” Brooks and Lougenia “Toots” (Tippy) Storme. She was married to Elvis Waldron from 1946-1971. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughters, Connie Sims and Candy (Paul) Calcaterra, all of Herrin; son, Rusty (Carol) Waldron of Carterville; grandchildren, Steve (Jenny) Sims of Carterville, Scott Sims of Carterville, Jill Calcaterra of Herrin, Jon Calcaterra of Herrin, Laura Silva of Carbondale, and Michael (Michelle) Kephart of Greenville, Wisconsin; great-grandchildren, Cole and Baillie Sims, Miguel Silva, and Sarah and Ethan Kephart; sister, Sharon Venable of Carterville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
LaDonna was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenneth “Kenny” Storme; son-in-law, Steve Sims; brother-in-law, Bill Venable; nieces, Pamala Coleman and Janice Lingle; and infant nephews, Michael and Milton Storme.
She was a secretary at SIU in the Home-Economics Department then later working at the Lexington Army Bluegrass Depot. LaDonna retired in 1991 as the head cashier for the fiscal department at the V.A. Medical Center in Marion. After her retirement, LaDonna managed Kay-Lou Trailor Court in Marion.
LaDonna was of the Baptist faith and looked forward to the visits from Victory Baptist Church while living at Hurricane Creek.
She enjoyed writing poetry, but the greatest joy came from her family.
