Kevin Lynn Cheatham

Kevin Lynn Cheatham, 63, of Carterville, passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 20, 2025, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Brother Paul “Woody” Woodhouse officiating. Burial will be in Blairsville Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 5:00 p.m., Sunday, October 19, 2025, at the funeral home.

Kevin was born on October 6, 1962, in Herrin, to David Randolph and Norma Dean (Morris) Cheatham.

He is survived by his wife, Kristal Rosenow; daughters, Chassidy Lynn (Cheatham), Kimberly Athey, Kayce Grant (Derrick Ebersohl), and Kristie Cheatham; mother, Norma Cheatham; step-daughter, JoLee Davis; brother, Ricky (Robyn) Cheatham; grandchildren, Aidan, Franklin Jr., Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Conner, David, Nickolas, Justine, John, Layce, Lillian, Savana, and Andrea; nephews, Cody, Kenny, Andrew, and Axtyn Cheatham; nieces, Lauren Humphries and Skyla Hayes; plus many cousins and friends.

Kevin was preceded in death by his father, David Cheatham; grandparents, Orval and Jewell Morris, and Myrtle and Earl Cheatham.

Kevin owned and operated D.C. Farms and K.C. Excavating for over 40 years. He truly loved “playing in the dirt,” and for him, excavation wasn’t just a job—it was a lifelong passion.

An avid outdoorsman, Kevin found deep joy in the simplicity and beauty of nature. He loved hunting and fishing, and his appreciation for history was reflected in his cherished arrowhead collection.

Kevin followed the Seventh-day Adventist faith. He found God in all things, especially in the quiet moments spent outdoors. He often encouraged others to “trust in God” and “go to God,” sharing the peace and perspective his faith brought him.
