Kenneth M. Potter, 91, of Cambria, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at the CLC of the VA Medical Center in Marion.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Rev. R.H. Chitwood officiating. Military rites will immediately follow at the funeral home. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Blairsville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Cambria Apostolic Church.
Kenneth was born on September 30, 1933, in Sparta, to Maben Clare and Ethel Belle (Cole) Potter. He married Patsy “Pat” Ann Woods on February 12, 1961, in Carbondale. She preceded him in death on October 7, 2010.
He is survived by his sons, Ronald Potter, Roger Potter, John Potter, Kevin Potter, and Kenneth Potter; daughter, Elizabeth Potter; several grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and sister-in-law, Brenda Woods.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Richard “Ricky” Potter; four grandchildren; brothers, Burk and William Potter; and sisters, Henrietta Potter and Juanita Cook.
Kenneth proudly served his country in the United States Army and was an active member of the Cambria Apostolic Church.
He worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service and later as a salesman for the Liggett Group for over 10 years. He also worked in security at Williamson County Airport and Jackson County Airport.
An avid outdoorsman, Kenneth enjoyed coon hunting with his hounds and fishing. He was also a passionate fan of high school and college basketball.
Kenneth’s family wanted to extend a special thanks to Dr. Smith; home healthcare nurse, Suzi; and caregiver, Brianne, for all of their wonderful care.
