Kayla Leeanne Palmer, 28, of Murphysboro, passed away Monday, May 12, 2025, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
She was born on June 11, 1996, to Heather Michelle Rae White and William H. Palmer.
Kayla is survived by her mother; sisters, Kaitlyn Palmer, Jeannie Gomez, and Carissa Palmer; niece, Esmerae Fox; uncles, Brian Kleinhans and Raymond Palmer; and cousins, Brianna and Daniel Kleinhans, and Trinity White.
She was preceded in death by her father; grandmother, Cherlyn Metcalf; and uncle, David White.
Kayla worked as a manager at Subway in Carbondale. She attended New Beginnings Church in Carbondale when she was able.
Kayla had a big, generous heart and was the kind of friend everyone hopes to have. She was a gifted cook—well-known among her family for her specialty cakes and delicious Mexican dishes. Creative and crafty, she loved decorating her sisters’ homes and making wreaths by hand. Her love for her family, especially her sisters, was deep and unwavering.
Kayla will be remembered for her warmth, creativity, and the joy she brought to those around her.
