Judith “Judy” C. Horaz, 82, of Carterville, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Parkway Manor Nursing Home in Marion.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 3, 2024, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastor Bob Morwell officiating. Burial will be in North Oakwood Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to the First United Methodist Church in Carterville.
Judy was born October 18, 1942, in Renville, Minnesota, to Quintin “Pat” and Virginia (Zuelke) Leifermann. She married Allen “Al” A. Horaz on June 29, 1963, in Wheaton, Illinois. He preceded her in death on May 26, 2016.
She was a dedicated employee of Corbell Electronics in Carterville, where she was known for her attention to detail and maintaining an efficient work environment.
Judy is survived by her sons, Dale (Stacey) Horaz, and James (Jessica) Horaz; grandchildren, Hailie Horaz, Jacob Horaz, and Julia Horaz; brother-in-law, Reginald Haag; plus several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Joanne; and sister, Kathleen Haag.
Judy was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church in Carterville, where she shared her musical talents as a member of the church choir and by playing piano for the children’s choir or stepping in wherever needed. Her love for music extended beyond the church as a proud member of the John A. Logan College band, where she played both the clarinet and bass clarinet. An avid animal lover, Judy has a special connection with animals and cared deeply for their well-being. Above all, she cherished her family, finding the greatest fulfillment in the love and time spent with her loved ones.
