Joshua "Josh" Austin Lefler

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joshua “Josh” Austin Lefler, 35, of Herrin, who left us unexpectedly on Thursday, November 14, 2024.

He was born May 20, 1989, in Carbondale, to Douglas Edward and Lesa Alane (Utley) Lefler.

Josh had a passion for online gaming and his online friends knew him as “Kazul”.

He is survived by his parents, Doug and Lesa Lefler; sons, Gavin Michael Wilson, Lucius Ollivander “Ollie” Lefler; sister, Samantha “Sami” and Layton Chiaventone; paternal grandparents, Jock and Reneè Lefler; maternal grandparents, Janice Spain, and Bob and Patti Utley; great-grandmother, Verla Grammer; nephews, Sailor Chiaventone and Owen Harper; plus many friends. Josh was deeply cherished by his family and friends, who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.

Josh was preceded in death by his great-grandparents.

He will be remembered for his kind spirit, unwavering dedication, and the joy he brought to everyone who knew him.

Services will be held at a later date. Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville is in charge of arrangements.
