Joshua “Josh” Dwayne Childress, 42, of Carterville, passed away Friday, May 3, 2024, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastor Chase Miller officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to the family to help offset expenses.
Josh was born September 27, 1981, in Herrin, to Kimberly Sue (Johnson) and Steven Wayne Childress.
He is survived by his children, Mia Cooper (Demauri Cossia) and Micah Cooper-Childress; best friend, Misty Cooper; father, Steven Childress; sisters, Stephanie Beck, Michelle (Sue) Johnson, Crystal Johnson, Maria Childress, Sara Childress (Bradley Elders), Angela Childress, and Amber Loos; granddog, Zeus; and his best friend, Shane Tarrant.
Josh was preceded in death by his mother, Kimberly Childress, and brother, Steven Michael Childress.
He was a mixer at Intertape Polymer Group in Carbondale.
Josh was known as “Rosco” the wrestler and liked to compete in wrestling matches. His greatest joy came from spending time with his kids.
Josh was one of the kindest people you could ever meet. He loved deeply and was so incredibly loyal. He was a blessing to anyone lucky enough to come into his life. Words cannot describe how much he will be, and is already, missed.
