Joie L. (Tregoning) Elting

Joie Louise Elting, 99, of Carterville, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2023, at her home, with family by her side.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 3, 2023, at Oakwood Cemetery in Carterville, with Rev. Mark Surburg officiating.

Memorial contributions can be made to Residential Hospice, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or to Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Joie was born December 16, 1923, in Carterville, to Walter and Edna (Tyner) Tregoning. She married Roy Herman Elting on March 11, 1961, in Herrin. He preceded her in death on January 12, 2015.

She is survived by her daughters, Toni Gulledge, Beverly Parker, and Lesa Dillard; 3 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Joie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 4 grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Martin, Helen Storme, Nadine Isbell, Mable Olund, and Mary Cole; brothers, Sam, Siebert, Frank, Tom, and Bob Tregoning; and sons-in-law, Jim Gulledge and David Parker.

She was a member of Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Marion.

Joie enjoyed belonging to the swimming club at John A. Logan College.
