Johnnie "John" Wayne Earls, 70, of Carterville, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Private family graveside services will be held. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions can be made to a scholarship fund for his grandkids or to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
John was born April 24, 1949, in McClellon Township, Illinois, to Johnnie L. and Lavera (McGehee) Earls. He married Cynthia Kelly on January 30, 1996, in Paducah, Kentucky.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Earls of Carterville; daughters, Mallory Daugherty and Kim (Gary) Gray, all of Carterville; grandchildren, Phillip Daugherty, Johnnie Daugherty, Brock Tuttle, and Rafe Tuttle.
John was preceded in death by his parents.
He honorably served our country in the Army National Guard.
John was a beer and whiskey salesman for Southern Illinois Wholesalers for over 25 years, retiring in 2014. He also worked 10 years at Marion Ford.
He was an avid fisherman who also enjoyed bird hunting.
In his earlier years, John was one of the original guitar players for the rock band, Head East.
John's greatest joy was being a grandpa to his grandkids and attending all their sports games and activities.
