John Donavich

John Donavich, 94, of Carterville, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021, at Parkway Manor in Marion.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin, with Fr. Mark Reyling officiating. COVID restrictions apply and masks must be worn. 

John was born March 17, 1926, in Vanderbilt, Pennsylvania, to Michael and Sophie (Dornak) Donavich. He married Theresa Julia Kristobak on June 24, 1950, in Leisenring, Pennsylvania. She preceded him in death on August 12, 2018.

He is survived by his children, Rita (David) Smith and Donald Donavich.

John was preceded in death by his parents and beloved wife, Theresa.

He honorably served our country in the United States Navy during WWII.

John was the Tech Director for Trans America for many years.

He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin.
