John Douglas “Doug” Baker, 59, of Carterville, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastor Philip Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale. Visitation will begin after 5:00 p.m., Monday, March 1, at the funeral home.

Doug was born March 27, 1961, in St. Louis, to John B. and Marjorie E. (Chumbley) Baker. He married Gayla Davie on October 19, 1985, in Marion.
He is survived by his wife, Gayla Baker of Carterville; son, Peter Baker of Carterville; sister, Dawn Stewart of Carmi; nephews, Camden (Katharine) Stewart and Easton Stewart, all of Carmi; nieces, Courtney (Jeff) Vincent of Murphysboro and Megan (Jason) Alexander of Herrin; and a host of dear friends.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a Vice President and Commercial Relationship Manager at U.S. Bank for over 15 years.
Doug was a member of Lakeland Baptist Church in Carbondale. He served as a volunteer for the Red Cross, as well as on the Board of Directors.
He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan who also enjoyed fishing and hunting.
