Joe Byrley

William Joseph “Joe” Byrley, 56, of Hurst, passed away Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Herrin Hospital.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 1, 2023, at Blairsville Cemetery, with Pastor Greg Parker officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville.

Memorial contributions can be made to Helen Honey’s in Herrin.

Joe was born October 22, 1966, in Herrin, to Earl J. and Dianne (Sealander) Byrley.

He is survived by his nephews and nieces, Alex (Tabitha Galloway) Byrley, Earl Byrley, Dawn (Greg) Hale, and Dianne Wyatt; several great nephews, nieces; sisters-in-law, Jane (Bill) Ren, and Barb Dailey; brother-in-law, Keith Stroud; aunt, Michelle Bowers; a friend who was like a sister, Carmen Prakel; and his beloved dog, Diamond.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Starr Travis, and Loretta Stroud; brothers, Earl Charles Byrley, and James Dailey; and nephew, Michael Davenport.

He enjoyed a good cup of coffee, playing BINGO, and being outdoors- from fishing, taking walks, and taking care of dogs. Joe loved spending time with his friends.
