Joanne Mae Weeks, 73, of Carterville, passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at ARCH Rehab at Helia Healthcare in Energy.
A celebration of Joanne’s life, hosted by her family will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 17, 2021, at Grand Avenue Baptist Church in Carterville, with Pastor Daryl Varble officiating.
Memorial contributions can be made to Grand Avenue Baptist Church in Carterville.
Joanne was born July 10, 1948, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Russell and Ruth (Lace) Lambert. She married John “Jack” Herbert Russell Weeks on February 5, 1972, in Wickliffe, Ohio. He preceded her in death on May 25, 2018.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathy (Mike) Zuber of O’Fallon, Jenny (John) Akers of Crainville, and Susan (Josh) Matteson of Santa Ana, California; grandchildren, John (Nikki) Zuber, Elizabeth Zuber, Cristian Akers, Gia Akers, Joel Akers; great-grandchild, Ethen Zuber; 3 brothers; and her Grand Avenue Baptist Church Family.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister and a brother; and her beloved dog, Sammie.
She was an active member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church. Joanne used to write plays for Church events years ago.
Joanne enjoyed helping her husband Jack making cheesecakes. They also enjoyed watching PBS British television like the Agatha Christie Mysteries, the Murdoch Mysteries, and Downton Abbey.
She had volunteered with Meals on Wheels over the years.
Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville assisted the family with cremation services.
