Jay L. Fletcher

Jay L. “Fletch” Fletcher, 53, of Marion, passed away Monday, August 12, 2024, at his home.

He was born November 25, 1970, in Valparaiso, Indiana, to Charles Lawrence “Larry” and Candice (Lawson) Fletcher. Jay married Mildred “Milli” Hancock on April 20, 2006, in Harrisburg.

Jay is survived by his wife, Milli Fletcher; chosen kids-son, John Planinc, and daughter, Bridget Hancock (Austin Pennington); grandkids who fondly called him, “Papa Jay”, Zachary and Raven Pennington; father, Larry Fletcher; mother, Candy Smith; aunt, June Siler; uncle, Carl Fletcher; and several nieces, nephews, and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his infant brothers and beloved lab, Taz.

Jay had been a diesel mechanic for the coal mines for many years. He had previously worked as a lineman for AT&T in Joliet.  He liked working with his hands and could re-build just about anything.

He had a passion for music and was a talented guitar player. Jay was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, camping, and boating. He also liked grilling and smoking meats.
