Jane Wilson Friel

Jane Wilson Friel, 97, passed away September 7, 2022, in Herrin Hospital.

Jane was born April 14, 1925, in McLeansboro, Illinois, to Francis Revelle and Sadie (McKnight) Wilson. She married Howard M. Friel on January 27, 1946, in McLeansboro.

She is survived by her four daughters and sons-in law, Joellen and John Nesheim of McHenry, Illinois, Tariann and Tim Ephgrave of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Donalee and Howard Spring of O’Fallon, Missouri, and Tamara and Dave Brown of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren, Julie, Marc, Samantha, and Brittany; two great-grandchildren, Natalie and Matthew; and sister, Cheryl Stephens of McLeansboro.

Jane was preceded in death by her loving husband, Howard; mother and father; and two brothers, John Wilson of California and Gene Wilson of Florida.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Carterville.

Jane was a beloved mother and friend. Jane enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, painting, sewing, puzzles and playing water volleyball.

There will be a gathering Saturday, September 10, 2022, from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville. Jane will be laid to rest at Odd Fellows Cemetery in McLeansboro, Illinois, on September 10, 2022, at 2:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Hospice of Southern Illinois, Inc., or First United Methodist Church Carterville.
