James “Jim” P. Clark, 86, of Carterville, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2022, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 16, 2022, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastor Daryl Varble officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
Jim was born January 28, 1936, in Carterville, to Harvey William and Lucille (Crowther) Clark. Jim married Eva Rae Russell on December 14, 1984, in Carterville. She preceded him in death on September 5, 2014.
He is survived by his daughter, Carol Ann (Travis) Short of Creal Springs; step-son, Luther “Buddy” Stuthers of West Point, Georgia; grandchildren, Mary Ann (Randy) Phillips of Carterville, James Ian (Lauren) Clark of Carterville, Kayla Stuthers of West Point, Georgia, Kaitlynn Stuthers of West Point, Georgia, Gabe Stuthers of Carbondale, and Savannah Stuthers of Valier; great-granddaughter, Ivy Clark of Carterville; special friend, Gene Bramlett; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rae Clark; sister, Jeanine Speck; and brother, Jack Clark.
Jim honorably served our country in the United States Navy during Korea.
Jim was a self-employed businessman but started out as a a coal miner at Freeman and Old Ben for many years. Jim also had been a barber at McCoy’s Barbershop in Carterville.
Jim liked going fishing and boating and enjoyed visiting with friends out at the Pink Oak.
