Jacqueline "Jackie" Melear Obituary

Jacqueline "Jackie" Aurel Melear, 81, of Carterville, passed away Friday, May 1, 2020, at her home, surrounded by her family.

Private graveside services will be held at Willowrest Cemetery in Carterville, with Pastor Brad Harlow officiating.

Jackie was born January 26, 1939, in Flint, Michigan, to John A. and Beatrice A. (Crosby) Rogers. She married Kenneth J. Melear on July 15, 1967, in Auburn Heights, Michigan.

She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Kenneth Melear of Carterville; granddaughter, Heather McCluskey of Carterville; great-grandchildren, Haydyn Panzier and Jaelynn Dunning; son-in-law, Cecil McCormick of Carterville; and a host of special friends.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jami L. McCormick; and granddaughter, Jennifer Hoppe.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carterville.

She was an incredibly talented artist. From her own works, which were displayed in her own gallery, Jackie's Art Gallery in Linden, Michigan; to sharing her love of art by teaching painting classes; to writing articles for the Manchester Times in Manchester, Tennessee; to being a gifted sewer; and to being a regular artist at craft shows for over 25 years, Jackie, was a true artist in every sense of the word.

Jackie's greatest passion was taking care of her family. Her everyday presence will be greatly missed.
