CARTERVILLE

Irene Henderson Robinson, 98, formerly of Carterville, passed away Friday, June 20, 2025, at the home of Bob and Cheryl Henderson in Crossville, Tennessee.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Ryan Tackett officiating and special guest Glenn Poshard speaking. Inurnment will follow at Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Saturday.

Irene was born on January 15, 1927, in Elmhurst, Illinois, to Harold and Hedevig (Bjorn) Brown who immigrated from Denmark after WWI. She married Lloyd Henderson on February 14, 1945, in Chicago. He preceded her in death in 1989. She then married Frank Robinson on January 5, 1991, and he preceded her in death in 2007.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Poshard Foundation or to the Anne West Lindsey District Library in Carterville.

She was a member of the Carterville First Baptist Church since 1952 when she and Lloyd moved to Carterville.

Irene is survived by her daughters, Elaine Miskell and Eileen (John) Gury; sons, Bob (Cheryl) Henderson, Tom (Debra) Henderson; stepchildren, Karen (Marty) Van Ausdale, Michael Robinson, Danny (Kathy) Robinson, Todd Robinson; grandchildren, Andrew (Leah) Miskell, Jeff (Jen Spicer) Henderson, Bryan (Carly) Henderson, Cliff Woods, Corey (Hillary) Woods, Joy Henderson; step-grandchildren, Carmen (Johnny) Carter, Jada Carter; great-grandchildren; Jake Henderson, Baker Henderson, Brayden Woods; sister, Doris Bogert.

She is preceded in death by, her husbands, Lloyd Henderson and Frank Robinson; parents; son-in-law, Mikell Miskell; daughter-in-law, Kathy Henderson; grandson, Ian Henderson; brothers, Victor Brown and Maurice Brown; sisters, Lily Janson, Nellie Sallach, Margaret Jensen.

Irene cherished her church family and was a fantastic cook, including her Red Velvet and pineapple upside-down cakes. She enjoyed sewing, reading and most of all, spending time with her wonderful family.
