Irene Thea Priddy, 75, of DeSoto, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2021, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, February 21, 2021, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastor Greg Parker officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home. COVID restrictions apply and facial coverings must be worn.
Memorial contributions can be made to the SIH Cancer Center or to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
Irene was born January 21, 1946, in Leipzig, Germany, to Gunter Erich and Adele Hildegard (Zimmer) Warzywoda. She married Robert “Bob” Ray Priddy on December 8, 1967, in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Robert “Bob” Priddy of DeSoto; son, Shawn (Bridget) Priddy of Herrin; daughter-in-law, Barbara Priddy of Cadet, Missouri; grandchildren, Jessica (Billy) Bloomner of Cadet, Missouri, Morgan (Tim) Sanders of Murphysboro, Bryce Priddy of Herrin, and Sierra Burks of Herrin; great grandchildren, Brianna, Morgan and Logan Lawson, Gage and Dylon Bloomner, and Ryker, Kylie, Makinley, and Addison Sanders; brother, Bernhard Warzywoda; niece, Karin Bucher of Germany; plus many additional family and dear friends.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; son, Andreas “Andy” Gunter Priddy; and sister, Getta.
Irene was a member of the First Christian Church in Hurst.
She retired in 2016, after 32 years of service as a sales clerk for Walgreens. Irene took great pride in her home and tending to her beautiful flowers.
Irene was a huge part of the Coalbelt Fire association. She would attend many meetings alongside her husband, Bob. She never met a stranger and her everyday presence will be greatly missed.
