Huldah Jane Vaughn

Huldah Jane Vaughn, 87, of Carterville, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Parkway Manor in Marion.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Crainville Baptist Church, with Pastor Cody Knapik officiating. Inurnment will be in Reynoldsburg Cemetery in Tunnel Hill. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at the church.

Memorial contributions can be made to Crainville Baptist Church.

Huldah was born, an only child, on August 25, 1935, in Crainville, to Linza and Belva (Choate) Vaughn.

She graduated with from Southern Illinois University Carbondale with a degree in Secondary Education, majoring in English. Huldah taught high school English at Marissa and Sparta. Directing plays and sponsoring student activities hold great memories. She also worked for Shawnee Library in Carterville. 

Huldah was an active member of Crainville Baptist Church, where she served as a youth Sunday school teacher and made life long friends.

Many of her cousins’ children referred to her fondly as “Aunt Huldah”, and she treated them with love. Her cousins loved her like a sister. She was a vital part of the Choate-Vaughn families.
