Heather was born November 28, 1981, in Paducah, Kentucky, to Stanley Joe and Tammy Renee (Wells) Adkinson. She married Michael David Slover on October 27, 2006, in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

She is survived by her husband, Mike Slover; daughters, Josey Slover (Jordan Robison) and Gracey Slover; mother, Tammy Jones; sisters, Emily (Andy) Mathews, and Savana (Zach) Pendegraft; grandmother, Barbara Wells; nieces and nephews, Harper, Payton, Asher, and Amos; aunts, Joni Gonzalez and Glenda (Richard) Neftzger; dog, Luna Faith; and many cousins and friends.

Heather was preceded in death by her father, Stanley Joe Adkinson; step-dad, Gary Jones; grandfather, Bobby Wells; uncle, Brad Wells.

Heather walked with the Lord at Vine Church in Carbondale, Illinois.

God gave her the gift of hospitality, a trademark that would define her as a friend to anyone. This gift would find her at Hobby Lobby, searching for the right décor that would warm her house and put guests at ease as she served them with kindness.

She loved the simple things in life. That’s why you could catch her sipping coffee on her porch with friends and family, looking over her pond, marveling over all of God’s creation.

Her daughters were her world. She loved to cook, make delicious bread out of Kamut flour and collect recipes with Gracey. She loved to do her makeup and hair and have long, late-night talks on the phone with Josey. One day, as it began to snow, she gathered her daughters for a walk. While they were enjoying the serenity of the snow, she stopped to tell them to never forget this moment. Just one of the many stories that showed her love and mentorship of her girls.

She loved her life, and those who knew her loved having her in their lives. She will be missed, but her precious spirit will serve as a light in those she touched with her kindness, beauty, and compassion.
