Gloria Uldean “ Dean” Motsinger, 93, of Herrin, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, January 21, 2021, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastor Jeff Wiggs Officiating. Burial will be in Blairsville. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. COVID restrictions apply and masks must be worn.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cambria Christian Church.
She was born on March 12, 1927, in Cambria, to Claude and Martha (Lansford) Tyner. She married Gymple Lee “Smokey” Motsinger in Marion. He preceded her in death on September 6, 1977.
She is survived by her daughter, Luan Pope of Herrin; sons, David Motsinger of Marion, Eric Motsinger of Cambria, Jon Motsinger of Chicago, and Tom Motsinger of Paoli, Indiana; daughters-in-law, Medra Motsinger of Royalton, and Debbie Motsinger of Herrin; brother, Terry (Connie) Tyner of Cambria; grandchildren, Michelle Wallace, Rae Anne Motsinger, Kyla Motsinger, Micah Motsinger, Dusty Motsinger, Mackenzie Motsinger, Colin Motsinger, Brittany Motsinger, Larry Dean Pope, and Keith Pope; 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Gary Gene Motsinger; sister, Claudean Beavers; grandson, Larry Gene Flota.
She worked as a bank teller in Carterville and Carbondale and as an Outreach Coordinator for Marion Senior Citizens. She also worked as a receptionist at Herrin Hospital.
Dean was a member of the Cambia Christian Church.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and was a passionate about going to yard sales.
