Gloria Dean (Baize) Lyon

Gloria Dean Lyon, 90, of Herrin, passed away Monday, December 26, 2022, at her home in Herrin.

Private services were held.

Gloria was born August 16, 1932, in Herrin, to Henry and Margaret (Huffstutler) Baize. She married Horace Lyon Jr. on October 13, 1950, in Piggott, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on December 5, 1987.

She is survived by her sons, Bruce (Geri) Lyon, John (Sherry) Lyon, and Eric (Beth) Lyon; daughter-in-law, Connie Lyon; grandchildren, Adam Lyon, Candace Lyon, Michelle (Jason) Hensgen, Tiffany Lyon (Jeremiah Davison), Dave Lyon (Tia Rendleman), Kari (Joe) Mattingly, Cortney Lach, and Katie Lyon; step-grandchildren, James and Emily Mattingly; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Josei, Dallas, Hayden, Layla, Kain, Eli, Grayson, Rilee, and Logan; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Richard Lyon; and siblings, Bill Baize and Meribeth Mays.

She has been a licensed private airplane pilot since 1987. 

Gloria was an avid gardener who loved taking care of her yard.

Most of all, Gloria loved spending time with family.
