Gilbert “Gib” Pottorff, 76, of Cambria, passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville with Rev. Ralph Brandon officiating.  Burial will be in Goodbread Cemetery in Gorham.  Visitation will be from noon until the time of the service on Saturday. 

Gib was born November 4, 1944 in Olney, Illinois to Floyd George and Freda Adeline (Schnautz) Pottorff.  He married Gayla Rae Vickery on February 14, 1992 in Paducah, Kentucky. 

He is survived by his wife, Gayla of Cambria; four daughters and sons-in-law, Anne (Travis) Emery of Marion, Brenda (Scott) Bradford of Goreville, Kendra (John) Wiley of Hendersonville, Tennessee, and Reatha (David) Hahn of Carterville; nine grandchildren, Ben Emery, Kyle Emery, Izabella (Michael) Sall, Austin Patterson, Makane Patterson, Luke Wiley, Emma Wiley, Addie Hahn, and Josh Hahn; sisters, Elfreda Pauley and Marge (Dennis) Ulsomer; mother-in-law, Mildred Reeder; sister-in-law, Ruthann Cross; many nieces, nephews, cousins; and his beloved cat, “Hey”.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenneth Pottorff; brother-in-law, Willard “Wid” Pauley.  

Gib worked as an automotive technician for 45 plus years. He worked several years at Vic Koenig Chevrolet and 25 years at Ike’s Auto Park. He retired in 2010.

He enjoyed Lawn Mower Racing, motorcycle riding, fishing, hunting, being outdoors, and dancing the two-step.  The most important thing in Gib’s life was his family and he adored his grandchildren.
