George William Pennock Jr.

George W. Pennock Jr., 79, of Carterville, passed away at 11:25 p.m., Wednesday November 22, 2023, at the VA Hospital in Oklahoma City. George moved to Oklahoma to be with his son and his family as his health was failing.

Private graveside services with military rites will be held at Willowrest Cemetery in Carterville.

George was a retired truck driver from Shawnee Express Trucking Company out of Herrin, Illinois.

He honorably served his country in the United States Navy during Vietnam.

He was born January 30, 1947, in Long Beach, California, to George William and Marta Frances (Britz) Pennock.

Survivors include: his son, Dewayne Brown and wife, Rebecca, of Newcastle, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Christopher, Timothy, and Amanda Brown, all of Newcastle Oklahoma; Jason Dodd of Carterville, who referred to him as "Pop"; nieces, Susie Pennock of Carterville, Illinois, and Lori Martin of Utah.

George was preceded in death by his parents, George and Martha Pennock; his son, Brian Pennock; and the love of his life, Joyce House.

George loved to spend time with his son and family, he loved to play cards sitting out on the back porch and playing with the dogs and the cats. He will be truly missed.
