George William Browning III, 71, of Carterville, passed away Monday, May 20, 2024, at Evelyn’s House in Creve Coeur, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Friday, May 24, 2024, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastor Kevin Edwards officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Willowrest Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon, Friday, at the funeral home.

George was born May 30, 1952, in Galesburg, Illinois, to Mary Grace (Hughes) and George William Browning II. He married Mary Ann Paris on June 16, 1978, in Ferguson, Missouri.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Browning; daughters, Jessica Corindia, and Jennifer Day (Danny Graves); grandchildren, Mercedes Reed, Alex Reed, Corbin Corindia, Mercedes Day, Dalton Day, Xander Day, Paris Browning-Divivo, Paisley Browning-Divivo, Case Browning-Divivo, and Hendricks Graves; great-grandchild, Stormi Bernard; and sister, Mary Jo Keen.
George was preceded in death by his parents, and great-grandchild, Akai George Bernard.
He honorably served our country in the United States Army overseas in Vietnam. After his service in Vietnam, George was running a mobile health unit in Appalachia.
George was a health inspector for Jackson County Health Department for 20 years. He was an Environmentalist for Republic Services Solid Waste Management. George had also been an Environmentalist for ZXP Petroleum Company in Texas.
He was a member of Destiny Church in Carterville as well as the Marion American Legion Post.
George enjoyed being a “horse show dad” for his girls, playing polo, and serving as “pit master” and DJ for family and friend gatherings. His most important job and greatest joy was taking care of his family.
