Gale B. Mausey, 88, of Creal Springs, passed away Friday, August 20, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at Arnold View Free Will Baptist Church in Creal Springs, with Revs. Ivan Ryan and Adam Brown officiating. Burial with military rites will be at New Salem Cemetery in Creal Springs. Visitation will begin after 5:00 p.m., Monday, August 23, 2021, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, and from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the church.

Gale was born December 9, 1932, in Creal Springs, to Robert Edward and Nell Rita (Dorris) Mausey. He married Melba Dean McGowan on July 8, 1953, in Creal Springs. Together they have shared 68 wonderful years.
He is survived by his wife, Melba Dean (McGowan) Mausey of Creal Springs; children, Gayla (Dale) Anderson of Creal Springs, Vickie (Max) Damron of Carterville, Brenda (Eric) Shadley of Creal Springs, Mike (Sue) Mausey of Creal Springs, and Linda (Lee) Boester of Creal Springs; grandchildren, Matthew (Ellen) Anderson, David (Desirae) Anderson, James (Emiline) Anderson, Jonathan (Kistin) Anderson, Bradley (Morgan) Damron, Jason (Virginia) Damron, Katie (Robby) Clark Stokes, Corey (Hanna) Damron, Andrea Shadley, Stephanie Shadley, Bethany Shadley, Nichole (Jared) Mocaby, Emily (Brandon) Knight, Curtis Boester, Amy (Tommy) Kissing, and Brandon Boester; great grandchildren, Owen, Myra, Jake, Liza, Dylan, Reese, Emery, Khasen, Kaydence, and Karver Anderson, Dayleigh, Lia, Clara, Abbygayle, Archer Damron, Henry, Amelia, and Madelynn Stokes, Emma and Eli Damron, Gracelynn and Riley Mocaby, Baby Knight, and Nolan and Callie Kissing; brother, C.W. Mausey of Creal Springs; sister-in-law, Dola Mausey of Creal Springs; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by parents; brothers, Robert “Bobby” Mausey Jr. and Lowell Mausey; sisters-in-law, Colleen Mausey and Rose Mausey; brother-in-law, Eugene (Gypsy) McGowan; and sister-in-law, Pauline (Bobby) Holmes.
Gale honorably served our country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the Arnold View Free Will Baptist Church in Creal Springs.
He retired after 30 years of service as an Insurance Salesman for Washington National Insurance Company.
When he wasn’t out tinkering on tractors, Gale could be found spending time with his family, playing games or traveling.
