Frieda V. O'Daniell

Frieda V. O’Daniell, 85, of Carterville, passed away Monday, October 3, 2022, at Helia Healthcare in Energy.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 7, 2022, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Rev. Ralph Brandon officiating. Burial will be in Blairsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Friday, at the funeral home.

Frieda was born October 27, 1936, in Williamson County, Illinois, to Amos and Edith (Hamby) O’Daniell.

She is survived by her sisters, Dorothy Garner, Norma Morris, and Carol Halstead; brother, Ron (Inez) O’Daniell; and many nieces and nephews.

Frieda was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dewey (Doris) O’Daniell; sister, Reba (Don) Gray; brothers-in-law, Gene Garner, Bill Halstead, and Kenneth Morris.

She worked at Allen Industries and later Maytag for over 29 years.

Frieda was a member of Hope Chapel Methodist Church in Colp for many years.

She enjoyed reading magazines, but her favorite thing was to spoil her nieces and nephews. Frieda was a phenomenal baker and cook, known for her chicken and dumplings and biscuits.
