Eva Kathryn Samuel, 95, of Carterville, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, February 9, 2020, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastor Jeff Wiggs officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Sunday.
Memorial contributions are the preferred form of remembrance to March of Dimes, Boys Town or to the charity of donor's choice.
Eva was born January 9, 1925, in Carbondale, to Joe M. and Mary (Corzine) Cummins. She married Kenneth James Samuel on June 3, 1950, in Piggott, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on April 24, 2010.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Mary Ann Lewis of Indiana, Thomas Karr of Nevada, Roberta Critchett of Nevada, Nancy Jo Scharmer of California, Suzette George of Michigan, Pat McCarty of California, and David Walsh of Washington; and special friends, The Crain Family.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Norma, Jenny and Ruth; and brother, Joe.
She was a talented quilter who liked to do Sudoku puzzles and watch Jeopardy. Eva also was an avid NBA basketball fan.
