Edward "Ed" Reichert

On Sunday, July 24, 2022, Edward H. Reichert, of Carterville, a loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 79.

Ed was born on October 14, 1942, in Carbondale, Illinois, to Hiram and Florence (Irene) Reichert.  He was raised on the family farm, attended Grand Chain High School, and worked in the telephone industry for 36 years.  On December 31, 1966, he married Betty Fuggett.  They raised two children, Barbara and Kevin.

Ed loved Jesus, his family, friends, and neighbors.  He enjoyed working with his computers, and especially loved watching his favorite baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals.  He cherished spending time with his grandkids and enjoyed creating and archiving their photos for all to enjoy.  He was a faithful follower of Jesus and a great example to his children and grandchildren.

He was a member of Crainville Baptist Church.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Hiram and Irene Reichert, and his brother, Skip (Larry) Reichert. 

He is survived by his wife, Betty; his two children, Barbara and Kevin; his four grandchildren, Taylor, Hayden, Jackson, and Connor; his sister, Judy; and niece and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 28, 2022, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastor Cody Knapik officiating. Burial will be in Willowrest Cemetery in Carterville.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
