Edward Leon Morris, 83, of Lake of Egypt and formerly of Cambria, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2020, at Herrin Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 20, 2020, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Rev. R.H. Chitwood officiating. Burial will be in Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. DUE TO HEALTH CONCERNS RELATED TO COVID-19: 50% capacity limit; facial coverings are required; and social distancing yourself from others.

Leon was born June 20, 1937, in DeSoto, to Robert Orval and Margaret Jewell (Walker) Morris. He married Marilyn Wollard on September 9, 1989, in Lake of Egypt.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Morris of Lake of Egypt; daughter, Cynde (David) Bunch of Cambria; step-daughters, Kathy (Mike) Gratton of Dayton, Ohio, Patty (Bill) Erwin of Cambria; and Dianna (Scott) Ferguson of Marion; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Norma Cheatham of Carterville; brother, Dale Morris of Carterville; and several nieces and nephews.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Linda Morris; brother-in-law, David Cheatham; and sister-in-law, Johna Morris.
He retired after 36 years as a heavy equipment operator for Old Ben Coal Company.
Leon enjoyed being outdoors working on landscaping, cutting wood, and mowing lawns out at Walker's Bluff.
