Edgar Lee Bridgewater

Edgar “Ed” Lee Bridgewater, 79, of Hannibal, Missouri, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Thursday, June 19, 2025.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville, Illinois.

After retiring from the Social Security Administration, Ed pursued his true passion – the great outdoors. Ed loved planning for, talking about, and escaping to his favorite hunting and fishing locations. He never turned down the opportunity to share the outdoors with his daughters, grandkids, and friends.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Cheryl Bridgewater of Missouri; three daughters, Sonya Bridgewater of New Mexico, Mindy (Jamey) Watson of Montana, and Amy (Justin) West of Missouri; and six cherished grandchildren.

Edgar was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Helen (Anderson) Bridgewater, of Galesburg, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Children’s Brain Tumor Foundation.

Arrangements are under the direction of Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville.
