Dr. Virgil Emery Stubblefield

Dr. Virgil Emery Stubblefield, 74, of rural Carterville, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2020, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

He was born on December 4, 1945, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Emery Albert and Mabel Irene (Maupin) Stubblefield. Virgil married Sherry Cunniff on June 6, 1975, in Clayton, Missouri.

He is the beloved husband of Sherry Stubblefield; dear father of Ethan, Jill and Justin; dear brother of Lola Stubblefield, Eric Stubblefield, Teresa (Ken) Christian, and the late Linda Montle; uncle, cousin and friend to many.

Virgil was Assistant Professor in Math and Physics at John A. Logan College for over 25 years.

Due to current circumstances, funeral services for Virgil Stubblefield will be private.
