Dorothy L. (Howard) Marlow

Dorothy L. Marlow, 95, of Herrin, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Parkway Manor in Marion, surrounded by her family.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin, with Sister Phyllis Schenk officiating. 

Memorial contributions can be made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church.

Dorothy was born March 29, 1926, in West Frankfort, to Otis and Elma Grace (King) Howard. She married Joe Marlow on October 18, 1946, in Herrin. He preceded her in death on September 4, 2002.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Marsha (Bruce) Talley of Carterville and Nancy (Bob) Smith of Salem; granddaughter, Kimberly Talley of Carbondale; nieces, Susan (Jones) Murphy of Herrin and Janice (Marlow) Lohman of Elkhart, Indiana.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Helen Dixon, and Faye Rush; nieces, Barbara (Dixon) Crouch, Rita Rush, Pat Marlow Calcaterra, and Judy Marlow; and nephew, George Arnold Marlow.  

Dorothy and her husband, Joe, owned and operated Joe’s Market in Herrin for 43 years.

She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin.

Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville is in charge of arrangements.
