Doris Evelyn (Casey) Fuller

Doris Evelyn Fuller, 86, of Herrin, passed away on June 10, 2025, at Herrin Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Susan Lawson officiating. Burial will follow at Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12 noon on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Doris was born on November 13, 1938, in Herrin, to Paul Levi and Lola Faye (Younkin) Casey. She married Vernell Fuller, and together they had two children, David Paul and Melanie.

She is survived by her children, David Paul (Carol) Fuller and Melanie (Tim) McGowan; grandchildren, Jamie Fuller-Willett, Daniel (Kayley) Fuller, Matthew McGowan, Joshua McGowan, and Phillip (Marissa) McGowan; and great-grandchildren, Remy Fuller, Charli Fuller, Ramzie Fuller, Abby Fuller-Willett, Liam McGowan, Wesley McGowan, and Elliott McGowan. She is also survived by her sisters, Norma Androff and Joyce Merz, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Gary Casey; and her sister, Glenda Lucille Finney.

She worked as an office manager for the U.S. Forest Service in Murphysboro, retiring in 1993.

Doris was a devoted member of Jesus Only Church in Herrin, where she served in many roles—including Sunday school teacher, choir member, and Pastor.

She enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing and camping, but her greatest joy was being with her family.
