Donna La Jean Liddell, 76, of Carterville, passed away at 10:15 a.m., Tuesday, December 10, 2019, at her home with her loving family by her side.
Donna was born August 18, 1943, to Jim and Maxine George. She married Jimmy Liddell on September 29, 1962.
After a career in medical transcription, Donna retired from Carterville Family Practice. Prior to working there, she worked for Mercy and at Herrin Hospital.
Donna enjoyed spending time with her family, antiquing, playing games, and camping with Jim and their friends. She and Jim were snowbirds and looked forward to their annual trip to Foley, Alabama. They also visited other campsites throughout the year.
Donna is survived by her husband, Jim; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Traci Liddell; grandchildren, Ashley Murphy, Derrik (Ashley) Liddell, Paige Liddell, and Zack Liddell; great-grandchildren, Braxton Liddell, Kinlee Liddell, and Kennedy Murphy; brother-in-law TJ (Kathy) Liddell; special cousin, Linda Hampton; and her best girlfriend forever, Donna Ann Gulley.
Donna was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Liddell; parents, Jim & Maxine George; sister, Sandy Emery; and mother-in-law, Louella Ward.
Donna was a member of the First Christian Church in Carterville where she played the organ for many years.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 12, 2019, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastor Matt Brown and Don Yewell officiating. Burial will be in North Oakwood Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, prior to the service.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, 204 Halfway Road, Marion, IL 62959 or to First Christian Church, 203 Virginia St., Carterville, IL 62918. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
A very special thank you to caregiver Robin Beltz, Hospice Nurse Brenda Nutty, and all who visited and assisted Jim in a variety of ways during Donna’s illness.
