Dennis “Denny” Wayne Fletcher, 72, of Benton, and formerly of Thompsonville, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Benton Rehab.
Private graveside services will be held at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Thompsonville.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to J.C. Manna Mission, 306 E. Broadway, Johnston City, IL 62951.
Denny was born January 3, 1952, in Gary, Indiana, to JR and Doris Jene (Talkington) Fletcher.
He is survived by his daughter, Kelli Fletcher (Chad) Paul; grandchildren, Nora and Levi Paul; sisters, Sheila (Clyde) Trout and Debbie Gillis; nieces and nephews, Teresa (Andrew) Hovenga, Jay (Hannah) Tirey, and Sara Jean (Justin) Kirby; plus many great nieces and great nephews.
Denny was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a dedicated and skilled auto mechanic who worked for over 30 years at Ron Ward Chevy in Herrin and Weeks in Benton, where he was known for his expertise and commitment to his craft. In addition to his work as a mechanic, Denny also served as an EMT for Benton Ambulance, where he found purpose in helping others during times of need.
A member of Valier Second Baptist Church, Denny held his faith close to his heart. He was also a valued member of the Masonic Lodge in Aiken, which brought him a sense of camaraderie and community.
In his free time, Denny enjoyed fishing and camping, often finding peace and joy in the outdoors. He will be remembered for his warm spirit, strong work ethic, and dedication to his family and friends.
