Debra Amaro Obituary

Debra “Debbie” Lynn Amaro, 73, of Carterville, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at her home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion, with Fr. Francis Tambala officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Carterville. Rosary service will begin at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with visitation immediately following.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the Multiple Sclerosis Association.

Debbie was born on May 15, 1952, in Herrin, to Dimple Maxine (Smith) and Lee Ollen Taylor. She married Rudy G. Amaro on July 7, 1975, in Casagrande, Arizona.

She is survived by her husband, Rudy G. Amaro; sons, Brandon (Rachel) Amaro, and Brett (Timmi) Amaro; grandchildren, Rudy Amaro II, Edelia Amaro, Eli Amaro, Felicia Amaro, Willow Amaro, and Gavin Amaro; sister, Karen (James) Brown; brother, Charles Samuel Taylor; sisters-in-law, Alva Hernandez and Andrea Barker; plus several nieces and nephews.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Amy Jo; sister, Josette; brother, Jim Beale; and aunt, Vera Smith.

Debbie had worked at American Magnetics and Maytag. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting, loved watching soap operas—especially The Young and the Restless—and could often be found watching Hallmark Christmas movies. Her favorite time was spent with her grandkids and watching Disney movies with them. She also enjoyed spending quiet time coloring and reading.
