Dean Stuck Obituary

Dean Leo Stuck, age 92, of Chandler, Arizona passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.

Dean, the son of Leo and Edna (Milligan) Stuck, was born at home on February 21, 1932, in Mount Ayr, Iowa.

Dean grew up in Mount Ayr and attended Mount Ayr High School, where he played football and basketball, and was involved in band and chorus. He graduated from Southwest Missouri State University, earned a Master’s degree from Drake University and a Doctorate from Iowa State University. He taught High School math and coached football, served as Principal and Superintendent at Coon Rapids. He later was a Professor at Southern Illinois University.

He married Mary Jane Eddy in 1955 in Mount Ayr. He is survived by Mary Jane; sons, Tim (Deb) Stuck, Jeff (Kolbie) Stuck; and daughter, Cindy Knighton; as well as five grandchildren, Courtney Stuck, Bonnie Stuck, Sydney Stuck, Tyler Knighton, and Cody Knighton; and his brother, Rex (Jean) Stuck.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Karen Stuck.

He and Mary Jane lived in the Iowa towns of Pleasantville, Audubon, Coon Rapids, and Ames as well as Carterville, Illinois. They moved to the Springfield Golf Resort in Chandler, Arizona in July 2001.

A memorial will be held in Chandler at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Dean’s honor to Hospice of the Valley or the Princess Theater in Mount Ayr, Iowa.
