David Mitchell Obituary

David Wayne Mitchell, 71, of Herrin, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Blairsville Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the Scott Air Force Base Ritual Team, Carterville American Legion Post, and Herrin V.F.W. and American Legion Post.

Memorial contributions can be made to the family.

Dave was born February 27, 1950, in Chicago, to Kenneth and Edith (Jarvis) Mitchell. He married Dianna Kay Allen on August 14, 1993, at Lake Julie in Blairsville. She preceded him in death on May 1, 2010.

He is survived by his daughter, Charli (Mark) Moss of Herrin; son, Bryan (Natasha) Mitchell of Hurst; grandchildren, Caleb Douthitt of Herrin, Micahel (Madilyn) Moss of Creal Springs, Madisyn (Justice) McPherson of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, Alivia Hilliard and Liberty Mitchell, both of Hurst; great-grandchildren, Emmersyn McPherson and Jaxtyn McPherson.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and brother, Jim.

He honorably served our country in the United States Air Force.

Dave had a passion for car and was a talented mechanic who owned and operated East Side Garage for over 40 years.   

He was an avid fisherman who belonged to the Hurst & Bush Bass Club.
