Danny Eugene Reed

Danny Eugene Reed, 67, of Blairsville, passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastor Jeannie Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Blairsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Danny was born August 29, 1956, in Herrin, to Danny Rolla and Ethel Sue (Childers) Reed. He married Shelia R. Pendall and together they had two sons, Rolla Eugene Reed and John Seth Reed. He later met Lisa Mayfield and they spent over 20 years together until her passing.

He is survived by his sons, Rolla E. Reed of Marion, and John Seth Reed of Herrin; grandson, Jason Reed; brother, Larry Dean Reed Sr.; niece and nephews, Larry Reed, Vicky Reed, and Paul W. Reed; great-niece, Trinity Ward; Lisa’s daughters, Samantha and Sabrina; step-grandchildren, Justin, Jordan, JoJo, Jeremiah, and Junior; plus numerous extended family whom he loved dearly.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents.

He had worked in the service department for Vic Koenig for over 15 years.

Danny enjoyed being outside gardening, but most of all taking care of his grandbabies.
