Daniel Scott Bigler, 74, of Carterville, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Herrin Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Stuart Parks officiating. Entombment will be at Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy. Visitation will be from noon to 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Danny was born December 15, 1949, in Carbondale, to Raymond Paul and Alberta (Gale) Bigler. He married Ellie R. (Staffey) Phillips on April 8, 2005.
He is survived by his wife, Ellie Bigler; children, Daniel Scott Bigler Jr., Shannon Bigler, and Tammy Daech; stepson, John D. Phillips; 5 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; siblings, Rebecca Bostian, Rhonda Bigler, Vera (Brad) Slankard, Virginia (Erv) Ervin, Doug (Alice) Bigler, and Ruth Dunn; followed by numerous nieces and nephews.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers-in-law, John Bostian and Jeff Dunn.
He was a carpenter by trade who owned and operated Bigler Construction, retiring in 2011. Danny loved being a farmer raising cattle and chickens and tending to his garden and his barn cats, Smokey and Broken Leg.
Danny avidly cheered for his beloved St. Louis Cardinals.
