Dalton Layne-Austin Orr, 3-month-old, of Carterville, passed away Friday, September 24, 2021, at Children’s Hospital in St. Louis.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 1, 2021, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastor Kenny Baker officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
Dalton was born June 14, 2021, in Carbondale, to Dylan Patrick Orr and Rhiannon Leigh Jackson.
He is survived by his parents, Rhiannon Jackson and Dylan Orr of Carterville; brother, Kaden Shayne Orr; sister, Mallarie Cardinal; maternal grandparents, Denise Thomas and Gary Jackson; paternal grandparents, Erik “Rick” Layne Orr and Marisol Garcia; paternal great-grandmother, Dixie Richardson, fondly known as “G.G.”; aunts and uncles, Donna (Max) Ray, Diane (Kenny) Baker, Tiffanie Baker, Damian Tijerina, Patricia Tijerina, Yvonne Garcia, Joseph Garcia, Shane (Angie) Jackson, Jamie Jackson, and Josh Jackson; cousins, Allie Byrd, Dalton Byrd, Felisha Jackson, Sierra Richardson, Jeff Richardson and family, Wiley Richardson and family, Lori Cavins and family; paternal uncles, Randy Richardson and Ron (Francis) Richardson and family; paternal great aunts, Sandra Cooper and family,and Lee Richardson, and Carol Jeanie Starrick; plus many other extended family members including the family of Carrie Fann.
Dalton was preceded in death by his maternal “papa”, Wade Thomas; cousin, Austin Jackson; great uncle, Kevin Shayne Orr; paternal great-grandfather, Tunnie Orr; paternal great-grandmother, Carrie Fann; paternal great uncles, Jack Cooper, Ray Richardson, Larry Richardson, and Terry Orr; paternal great aunt, Tami Barr; paternal great great-grandparents, Ray (Lola) Richardson, Rev. R.V. (Mary) Orr; cousins, Crystal Cooper and Michael Duane Richardson.
Although our cherished Dalton wasn’t blessed with a long life here with us, through his gift of organ donation, he has given life to others-a true gift from God.
