Curtis Lee Reed, 85, of Marion, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at the John Cochran VA Hospital in St. Louis.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Curtis was born on July 28, 1940, in Makanda, to Rolla Daniel and Bessie Pluma (Bush) Reed.

He is survived by his sons, Kelly (Brie) Reed and Troy Reed; grandchildren, Hailee Conner, Shenelle Reed, and Elizabeth Reed; great-grandchildren, Lilah, Isabella, and Melanie; brothers, Edward (Barbara) Reed, and Thomas (Charlotte) Reed; sister-in-law, Peggy Reed; and several nieces and nephews.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Pearl Jean Morrison, Ruth Morgan, and Laura Weller; and brothers, Danny Reed and James Reed Sr.

He honorably served our country in the United States Army, spending his overseas deployment in Korea, where he played a role in helping defend South Korea.

Curtis was a heavy equipment operator for Plote Construction in Hoffman Estates for over 30 years. Together with his brother, James, he also owned and operated B & R Sub-Division Land Developer.

Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville assisted the family with cremation services.
