Curtis Lee Messer, 88, of Elkville, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at his home.
Private graveside services with military rites will be held at Elkville Cemetery, with Revs. Merle Mackie and Jim Pension officiating.

Curtis was born on January 6, 1932, in Makanda, to Harvey and Maude (Furlow) Messer. He married Alice Lorraine Howerton on October 8, 1983 in Elkville.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Messer of Elkville; sons, Curtis Burton (Patty) Messer of Largo, Florida, Bob (Sherry) Messer of Elkville and James Messer of Elkville; daughter, Natalie Hunt of Ft. Pierce, Florida; grandchildren, Madison Messer, Jeannetta Messer, Christopher (Nicole) Messer, Trevor (Bre) Messer, and Roxanne Hunt; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Curtis was preceded in death by his parents; nine brothers and sisters; and daughter, Genny Sizemore.
He honorably served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Curtis was a faithful member of Knoff Bend Pentecostal Church in Elkville.
He had worked at Tuck Tape.
Curtis enjoyed tinkering on lawn mowers.
