Claude Mitchell King, 88, of Carterville, passed away Friday, August 20, 2021, at the Veterans’ Home in Anna.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at Blairsville Cemetery, with Rev. Brad Harlow officiating. Military rites will be accorded by the Carterville American Legion Post, Herrin V.F.W. and American Legion Post, and the Army National Guard Ritual Team.

Claude was born August 26, 1932, in Alto Pass, to James Logan and Mary Elizabeth (Trexler) King. He married Ruth Elouise Robinson on April 10, 1954, in Carbondale.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth King of Carterville; daughter, Katherine (James) Giacomo of Pinckneyville; grandchildren, Mary (Bill) Schablowsky of Mulkeytown and Shane Giacomo of DuQuoin; and great-grandchildren, Alexis and Xander Schablowsky.
Claude was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edward, Harland, and Fred; and sister, Mae Stearns.
He honorably served our country in the United States Army.
Claude was a heavy equipment operator for the city of Newport Beach, California.
