Christine Noakes, 88, of Carterville, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 6, 2025, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastor Jeff Wiggs officiating. Visitation will begin after 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Residential Hospice, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Christine was born on October 1, 1936, in Crainville, to Everett and Clarice (Harper) Howerton.
She is survived by her children: Bradley Noakes (Mark Johnson), Brenda (Dale) Farley, Betty Black, and Bryan (Dianne) Noakes; grandchildren: Ross (Lainey) LeQuatte, Morgan LeQuatte, Chris (Amanda) Farley, Russell (Sarah) Farley, Jillian Minor, Lindsay Rawls (Joe Chotner), Austin Black (Steven Mattli), Olivia Noakes, Tiffany Baldi, Christy (Adam) Williams, Emily (James) Conner, and Cody (Jennifer) Ellermyer; great-grandchildren: Ellie, Maddox, Logan, Hadley, Stephanie, Katie, Larry, Nile, Noah, Nia, Hunter, Sheldon, Wyatt, Trenton, Abigail, Jase, Corbin, Harper, and Kendall; daughter-in-law: Teresa; special friends, Les and Nancy Black; as well as many extended family members and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Barry Lee Noakes.
Christine worked as a secretary and was a longtime member of Crainville Baptist Church. She also attended Cambria Christian Church.
She enjoyed playing BINGO, traveling, and watching crime dramas like NCIS. More than anything, Christine cherished spending time caring for her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.
Everyone who knew her loved her—she never met a stranger.
