Charles Edward Howell

Charles Edward Howell, 85, of Cambria, passed away Friday, November 27, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, private family funeral services will be held Monday, November 30, 2020, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastors Jim Frye and Kevin McNeely officiating. Burial will be held at Blairsville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Church of the Nazarene, 12 North 7^th Street, Murphysboro, IL 62966.

Charles was born February 20, 1935, in DeSoto, to Lorenzo Dow and Aretta (McCree) Howell. He married Betty Byrley on March 26, 1955.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Betty Howell of Cambria; daughters, Sandy (Jeff) Loring and Kathy (Jim) Shields; son, Donald (Nancy) Howell; grandchildren, Hailey (Doug) Beever, Jason Shields, Jeremy (Susan) Shields, Andy (Kylee) Shields, Virgil (Brianna) Howell, and Dustin (Kim) Loring; 15 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Morris, Nettie Jenkins and Lelia Vaughn; and brothers, Virgil and Robert Howell.

He retired from Norge after 45 years of service, where he worked on the washer line.

Charles was a member of the Church of Nazarene in Murphysboro.
