Charles Alvin Colp

Charles Alvin Colp, 68, of Hurst, passed away Monday, January 4, 2021, at Westside Care Center in West Frankfort.

He was born March 10, 1952, in Herrin, to Alvin Seymore and Margaret Louise (Simpson) Colp. He married Sandra Rae Garavalia in Marion.

Charles is survived by his wife, Sandra Colp of Hurst; sons, Jon (Tzena) Colp of Macedonia and Charles (Modest) Colp of Hurst; and grandchild, Kyra Huffman of Macedonia.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Charles retired after over 30 years as the Maintenance Superintendent with the City of Hurst.

He was a HAM Radio enthusiast with the call sign, KC9PII and also belonged to the Moonlighters’ HAM Radio Club.

Charles was an EMT, Firefighter and EMA Director for the City of Hurst as well as a storm spotter.
