Charles Aaron Basta, 42, of Carbondale, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at his home.

A memorial gathering will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 30, 2022, at Love & Truth Church in Crainville.

He was born September 24, 1980, at Marion Memorial Hospital to Melody Ann (Powell) Rindfuss.

Aaron is survived by his parents, Robert and Melody Rindfuss of Carterville; brothers, Rob Rindfuss of Crainville, Matt Basta of Seagoville, Texas, Randy (Christina) Rindfuss of Crab Orchard, Michael (Alysha) Tellor of DeSoto, and Jacob Tellor of Mogadore, Ohio; 10 nieces and nephews; a bonus brother, Charles (Jennifer) Sierens of Marion; and his beloved cat, Charles.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Don and Evelyn Powell.

He loved the Lord deeply and his family takes comfort in knowing he's with Jesus now. He'd been a "street preacher" setting out when God called him with nothing but a Bible and a backpack and a fearless desire to speak to people about Jesus. He was especially drawn to the homeless.

He was an animal and nature lover who especially loved the mountains, having fulfilled his dream of hiking along the Appalachian Trail in 2021 after covid interrupted his hike in 2020.

Aaron had worked as a Mechanical Engineer at TCT Television in Marion, Akron, and Fresno.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the funeral home to help offset funeral expenses.
